Placement Report

Computer Science and IT have always been the center of attraction for IT companies and for many years, these courses have attracted maximum placements. A few years before, the companies used to take BE/MCA/MSc students. But as syllabi of BSc Computer Science and IT got upgraded with the introduction of technologies such as Java, Dot Net, SQL, VC, Open Source Operating System (Linux) etc, companies have started picking up the students from these categories too.

The first major break-through that the Department got, was in September 2004, when MBT(TechMahindra) visited our college (one out of few colleges that they visited) to recruit four IT students and two Computer Science students. During the same year, Patni also arranged campus recruitment program at their own center in which 3-to-4 of our students got selected. Apart from Software companies, CMS, a hardware company also visited the college at the end of the academic year and went on to recruit 3-to-4 students.

The recruitment process that the students go through is very rigorous. It is as follows –

Some companies also offer students MS program. The students work from Monday to Friday and they attend classes on Saturday and Sunday.

During the academic year 2005-2006, TechMahindra and Syntel visited our campus. TechMahindra selected two computer science students. Patni conducted the program at their premise. Some companies conduct a Joint-campus recruitment. Infosys, Accenture visited Pillai College for the same for which our students were sent. Few of them got selected. But still some of them went for higher studies. One student from IT joined Infosys though many got selected.

During 2006-2007, maximum number of placements took place. Two students of IT got selected in the campus placement program conducted at S K Somaiyya by TechMahindra. Companies like Infosys, Accenture, TCS visited Pillai College and through their campus, and Two students got selected in TCS. Six from Comp Sci and from IT got selected in Accenture, Three got selected in Infosys, Two got selected in TCS. This time, Hexaware contacted our college and conducted interviews in their own premise. Four students from IT got selected over there. Three students from our department got selected in LnT Infotech.
