Regular Programmes of NSS

It is aimed at providing work to students round the year and also exposing and sensitising the problems of the community. For these we have adopted 2 slum pockets adjacent to our college Kondan Nagar and Lal Donger slums. Volunteers regularly visit and interact with the community. They also try to solve problems like identification and motivation of school dropouts to go back to school.

  1. Programmes for Women and Children:- We are also actively involved programmes like mass pulse-polio, immunization, Aids Awareness programmes etc. for women and children.
  2. As a part of environment awareness and Protection Programme :- We have taken up a project at Sanpada, Navi Mumbai. The volunteers are involved in planting trees and protecting the same in a railway land. We have already planted 500 saplings and the growth is visible.
  3. Rural Camps :- It has been our practise to organise rural camps of 10 days duration during Diwali holidays. We have been working in our adopted village Sutrakar Talka, Talasary, Dist-Thana, continuously for the past 8 years.
  4. Blood Donation Camps :- We organise blood donation camps on regular basis. We have already organised 31 camps during a span of past 20 years. This year the camp was organised on 03.08.02 and collected 126 bottles of blood for E.S.I.S. blood bank.
  5. Blood Donors Club :- The club members make on the spot blood donation for the needy persons in various hospitals on telephone calls.
  6. Street Theatre Group :- Our Street theatre try to sensitize the community, s through street plays on social issues. Our street plays were on status of women, Aids awareness, National Integration etc are performed in streets and crowded places like Railway Stations, outside colleges and schools. These street plays are well received by the community.
  7. Municipal School Adoption Programme :- Another notable feature activity is the Municipal School adoption programme. For this we have already adopted Chunabhatti Municipal School for this. The volunteers go to this school and help the students in academic and solving their personal problems.
  8. Hariyali Manch :- The unit has developed a plot in Sanpada, where about 500 medicinal plant have been planted. The volunteers attend to these plants every sunday and take care of them.
