ACTIVITY REPORT FOR THE MONTH OF JULY 2005

1st July 2005 : Mr. Kamlakar Bhopatkar and Mrs. Madhavi Vaidya along with Prof. Shikha Dutta conducted an Orientation programme for First Year Information Technology students on 1st July, 2005.

2nd July 2005 : A team of four students from our college participated in an Elocution competition organized by Kokan Marathi Sahitya Parishad, Deonar on 2nd July, 2005.

2nd July 2005 : The department of Physics organized the screening of a picture "Making of spacecraft" for the science students on 2nd July, 2005 .

4th July 2005 : A presentation on "Configuration of Computer System" was made by Mr. Venkat from T.Y.B.Com.

9th , 16th and 23rd July 2005 : The Chemistry Association arranged for presentations by students on "Chemistry of Biomolecules" and "Polymers" on 9th and 16th July respectively. It also organized a cultural programmer on 23rd July, 2005. The highlight of this programme was the depiction of the "Periodic Table" in the form of fashion show.

9th July 2005 : Mr. Rajesh Rajan from the Merchant Navy delivered a talk to the science students on "Celestial Navigation". The talk was organized by the department of Physics.

9th July 2005 : The BMS department organized a cultural programme to welcome the first year student of BMS on 9th July, 2005.

9th July 2005 : The Career Guidence Cell organized a "Vocabulary Building Session" on the lines of the IELTS Exam for getting admission to foreign universities.

12th July 2005 : The students of SYIT presented a seminar on 'Comparative Study of Operating Systems' 12th July 2005.

14th July 2005 : Mr. Sahil Kadam gave an introductory lecture on Excel Graphs and Charts for the Third Year students of Department of Bio-Informatics in the 2nd week of July 2005.

16th July 2005 : Mr. Nachiket Chakraborty and Mr. Rohan Pathak from TYBSc (Physics) gave a talk on "Preparations for various interviews and written tests" so as to help other students appearing for the same.

16th July 2005 : The department of Psychology organized a felicitation function for the first division students from the 2004-05 batch. From this year onwards, the department will be conducting such felicitation functions to encourage the students.

16th July 2005 : The Career Guidance Cell provided brochures and information on biotechnology, nanotechnology, bio-infomatics and certificate career courses available from Vikas Career College, Mumbai.

20th and 25th July 2005 : A presentation on "Internet" was made by Mr. Venkat and some other TYBCom. Students.

23rd July 2005 : The Commerce Association organized a "Logo Competition" for BA and B.Com. students on 23rd July 2005 in the College auditorium.

23rd July 2005 : The department of Physics conducted a quiz competition for the science students on the topic "Gravity".

23rd July 2005 : A Seminar on "Certification Programs in Oracle, Sun Java, Red Hat Linux" was delivered by a renowned computer institute, SSI Technologies Limited, on 23rd July, 2005.

23rd July 2005 : The students of SYIT conducted an interesting 'Hardware Workshop' on 23rd July for First Year students of Information Technology where they demonstrated the hardware parts of a computer.

23rd and 24th July 2005 : The Nature Club of the College organized a two-day trek to Sarasgad and Sudhagad, near Pali, Raigad District on 23rd & 24th July. Prof. Vikas Ware and Prof. Umesh Chauhan accompanied 34 students on this trek.

• Prof. Atul Mody and Mrs. Deepa Venkitesh attended a two day seminar on "Frontier Areas in Physics that was conducted by K.C. College on 1st and 2nd July 2005.
• Prof. Prajit Chandra attended a two day seminar at University of Mumbai on 8th and 9th July to commemorate the completion of 100 years after "Einstein's miraculous year 1905".
• Prof. Vikas Ware attended a two day workshop on "Competitive Sports" organized by University of Mumbai. at P. D. Karkhanis College, Ambernath on 11th & 12th of July, 2005.
• Prof. Samitha Sharma Kain attended a one-day workshop at Podar College on the revised syllabus for FYBCom (Business Economics Paper) on 16th July, 2005.
• A research paper titled "Effect of Linear and Non-linear Phase mismatch in Four Wave Mixing in Optical Fibres" was presented at the Internal Conference on optical Communication that was held at Bauff, Canada on 21st July 2005. The paper is co-authored by Prof.Deepa Venkitesh and Ms.R. Vijaya.
• Prof. S. Krishnan attended a one day seminar on "Security Analysis & Portfolio Management at HR College, Churchgate on 23rd July 2005.
