ACTIVITY REPORT FOR THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER 2005

1st September 2005 :- Mr. Sidhesh and Mr. Faiz from S.Y.B.Sc. won the II Prize at the "Mathematics Exhibition" organized by Ratnam College, Mumbai.

1st September 2005 :- Mr. Manohar and Mr. Anurag from T.Y.B.Com. made class presentations on "Span of Management" and "Leadership" respectively.

1st to 3rd September 2005 :- At the inter-collegiate academic festival, 'Gyan Marthan 2005' the following students won prizes :

  1. Ms. Ruchi Masand and Ms. Aarti Sethuraman and Mr. Nirav Suchav from T.Y.B.Sc. (Biotechnology) won the I Prize for "Biocure".
  2. Ms. Pranali H. and Ms. Monali Kode from T.Y.B.Sc. (Biotechnology) won the I Prize for "Flower Arrangement" using medicinal plants.
  3. Ms. Kruti Patel, Ms. Archana R., Ms. Manjari T., Ms. Aparajita D. and Ms. Manisha T. from S.Y.B.Sc. (Biotechnology) won the I Prize for "Working Model".
  4. Ms. Meena S. from S.Y.B.Sc. (Microbiology) won the I Prize for "Micro - Rangoli".
  5. Students of S.Y.B.Sc. (Biotechnology), T.Y.B.Sc. (Biotechnology) and S.Y.B.Sc. (Microbiology) won the II Prize in the "Skit Competition".
  6. Mr. Sanju Yadav from S.Y.B.Sc. (Microbiology) won the Consolation Prize for "Micro - Rangoli".

2nd and 3rd September 2005 :- The department of Economics sent some students for participating at the inter-collegiate competition "Arth Manthan 2005" organized by Acharya Marathe College. Ms. Supriya Lohar (F.Y.B.Com.) and Ms. Asha Punjabi (T.Y.B.A. - Economics) won the I and III Prizes in the competition "Cut Out the Noose".

2nd and 3rd September 2005 :- Mr. Tarun, Mr. Venkatesh and Mr. Josho from T.Y.B.Com. made presentations on "Departmentation" and "Line and Staff Organization".

2nd - 4th September 2005 :- The department of Computer Science and Information Technology organized a technology festival, "Sagacity" from 2nd to 4th September. This included a "Hardware Workshop", "Gaming Events" and seminars on topics like "Embedded Systems", "E - governance" and "Personality Development".

3rd September 2005 :- Ten students from S.Y.B.Sc. and T.Y.B.Sc. attended a one - day workshop on "Quantum Mechanics" at Ratnam College, Bhandup.

3rd September 2005 :- Prof. (Mrs.) V. Murthy organized an "Advertising Quiz" for S.Y.B.Com. students in the college auditorium.

3rd September 2005 :- At the inter-collegiate competition on "Working Models Based on the Principles of Physics", our S.Y.B.Sc. and T.Y.B.Sc. students won the I, III and Consolation Prizes.

3rd September 2005 :- Prof. Gupte delivered a guest lecture on "Logistics Management" for T.Y.B.M.S. students.

3rd September 2005 :- Mr. Milin Thakkar from T.Y.B.M.S. won the I Prize in an inter-collegiate singing competition organized by Lala Lajpat Rai College, Mumbai.

4th September 2005 :- The NSS wing of the college organized a Blood Donation Camp and collected 160 bottles of blood for some city hospitals.

5th September 2005 :- The department of Sociology organized an exhibition on the theme "Deluge - Black Tuesday" in the college auditorium.

9th September 2005 :- Mr. Raj from T.Y.B.Com. made a presentation on HRD.

14th September 2005 :- The Rotract Club organized a seminar on "Event Management and Career Counselling" for the BMM students in our college.

14th September 2005 :- Mr. Satish from T.Y.B.Com. made a presentation on "Scientific Selection Policy".

15th September 2005 :- Mr. Romnik M. and Ms. Sanju Yadav from S.Y.B.Sc. (Microbiology) won the II Prize in the Quiz Competition held at C.K.T. College, Panvel.

15th September 2005 :- The BMM department organized two workshops on "Introduction to Advertising" for FYBMM students and on "Introduction to Public Relations" for SYBMM students.

16th September 2005 :- The Chemistry Association organized a poster competition on "Application of Nano - Particles".

24th September 2005 :- The BMM department organized its annual cultural event "RAAGA" on 24th September in the college.

24th September 2005 :- Ms. Arpana and Mr. Siddhesh from S.Y.B.Sc. presented a seminar on "Dawn of Quantum Mechanics".

24th September 2005 :- The Chemistry Association organized a guest lecture on "Concepts in Inorganic Chemistry" by Prof. C. Chatterjee, former H.O.D. at I.I.T., Mumbai.

26th September 2005 :- Mr. Amit Samgiskar, Senior Manager at Lifestyle Club gave some placement information to students from BMS.

27th September 2005 :- The Microbiology Association organized its annual quiz competition for the students of all B.Sc. classes in the college auditorium.

28th September 2005 :- Mr. Sarthak, Mr. Rahul and Mr. Savio from F.Y.B.M.M. were selected for the finals of the Quiz Competition organized by University of Mumbai.

29th September 2005 :- The Physics Association screened a film "Time Machine" that is based on the concept of "Relativity" for Science students.

FACULTY ACTIVITIES AT A GLANCE

  • Prof. K. Prajit Chandran attended a two - day workshop on "Fundamentals of Quantum Mechanics" at Ratnam College, Bhandup on 1st and 2nd September 2005.
  • Prof. Aarohi Parimu Khar attended a one - day workshop on "Statistics" that was organized by the department of Applied Psychology, University of Mumbai on 9th September 2005.
  • Prof. S. Krishnan attended a one - day seminar on the auditing paper for T.Y.B.Com. (Banking and Insurance) at C.H.M. College, Ulhasnagar on 10th September 2005. He also made a presentation on two T.Y.B.Com. (Banking and Insurance) papers i.e. "Financial Services Management" on 16th September 2005 at a seminar organized by our college and on "Services Marketing" on 30th September at Vivek College.
  • Prof. Sahil Kadam attended a one - day seminar on "Dot Net Technologies" at S.I.E.S. College, Nerul, Mumbai on 14th September 2005.
  • Prof. Kishore Dichwalkar organized a programme to observe "International Day of Peace" on 21st September 2005 at Prof. Surendra Gavaskar Sabhagraha, Dadar (East) NSS units of 5 different colleges participated and presented small skits based on the theme of International Peace and Non-violence.
  • Prof. Atul Mody attended the "Indian National Physics Olympiad Resource Generation Camp" from 23rd to 26th September at Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education.
  • Prof. Kamlakar Bhopatkar and Prof. Madhavi Vaidya attended a two - day workshop-cum-training programme on "Visual C++" at K.C. College, Mumbai on 23rd and 24th September 2005.
  • Dr. V.D. Barhate attended a meeting of the Staff Selection Committee for Arts, Commerce and Science Colleges under University of Mumbai on 24th September 2005 at Gokhalde Education Society's R.M. Bhat High School, Parel, Mumbai.
